Its always hard saying goodbye....particularly when u are the one leaving. There is only the bend upto which u can turn back and wave. After that, your world as u knew it melts away. JLT. Which is why it must be harder saying goodbye to a place which changed u. For the better or for the worse. A world where there were no rules whatsover. Did what u felt like. Was what u felt like. If u suddenly didn't feel like, stop. Bottomline: Nothing matters.
Not at the very least the sincerity with which u once entered these 'hallowed portals' of a premier b-school. Once u got over the many congratulations and neighbours' envy, u came to realise that b-schools are actually not for learning. U slowly start unlearning. First to go were ur sleep timings. Then the day or the date which seemed irrelevant. Kya fark padta hain? Silly things like reading the newspaper did not matter anymore. Except maybe during placements when it will came to Crunch. U decided that things always get done. Somehow, somewhere, by someone. Assignments, projects, submissions....not worth losing ur sleep over. Other matters are however important. Attending the JLT wetnight, ensuring the Madsam breakfast happens, scheming for MAXI Fair, riding the BLAX trips, chilling out at Dadus, attending various regional dinners and organising them, shouting urself hoarse during XL-IIMC, watching mindless movies on DC, hogging at Bishu Da....a lot of things u would otherwise not have bothered with suddenly become defining moments of ur life. Frax, grax, arbit, random.... Ur vocabulary is corrupted. And u are happier for it. U will cry to go back to the life u knew earlier. Throw a tantrum when u need to wake up with the sun. Crib when u read a novel after a period of two years. Fiddle in ur seat when meetings go on and u can't doze off. Give dirty looks when u don't get nimbu pani at any time of the day or night. Adjust u will....after putting up a fight. And XL will live in ur memories. The remoteness of it making it almost idyllic. U will finally understand the look in alumni's eyes. U will become an alumnus.
Saying 'goodbye and take care' somehow makes it final. So all ye seniors, have a rocking time out there :-)
