Just another day...

I come back from the evening lectures. Only to have dinner and run to a meeting. Two hours go by unnoticed. Am back in my room and wondering when was the last time I slept before one. Fourth term has turned out to be so painful with all the tests and submissions. Though the fact that I chose the subjects means that I can't complain. I do like IEC very much though. As I ruminate over what possibly could have prompted me to choose some of the subjects that I have, Moni comes by and reminds me of an impending deadline. And of course, the two tests on Independence Day! Not that they are particularly difficult or anything...but still, just the thought makes me want to rebel.
I start off like the good nerd. Then remember that I have been wanting to watch the Olympics opening ceremony. Decide to study MACR (Mergers, Acquisitions and Corporate Restructuring - a mind-numbing course with a fancy name!) and watch at the same time. All such thoughts dismissed within minutes. What a show!!! I am torn between using too many adjectives and being speechless. The sheer magnitude is amazing, the performances cast a spell. China has, so to speak, truly arrived. There is a pang of jealousy running through me. I keep wondering what all will we include if we had it in India...guess there is too much to cover. As Sarin keeps asking, "Siiiiiiirrrrrr, whhheeeennnn will India become a China??" I add watching an opening Olympics ceremony live to my bucket list :-)
And thus the night passes by. As the olympic flame is lit and the closing credits done, daylight filters in through my red curtains to cast a glow. And droopy eyes go to sleep. Only to be frantically woken up by Moni for the test at 12. I give the test and am back in no time. Smiles all around. The Drac Red Carpet award for Fraxellence has to go the ray.
Kantasum is on campus. We run to meet them. And as Musana's eyes keep searching for all that has changed on campus and Shrik listens patiently to Aditi's and my prof cribbing, we move to Dadus. Where Dadu coaxes Shrik to treat us. And we talk about how ghissu the junior batch is. Only for Mus to smile brightly...some things never change, do they? :-)
Back in her old room, they search for their names scribbled on a table. Only to see that it has been painted over. The disappointment is visible on their faces. A sudden pang of pain. Only seven odd months to go before I join the toiling masses of this country. As Mus says as a matter of fact, the grass in JLT seems greener now...with PJ king and queen around, its difficult to be senti...we as we make fun of Metal's crown and Shrik's new address, Mus drools over her Buddha and clicks pics...whereas I get my case taken, yet again for my book shelf :-
Lunch later, there is the drizzling rain again. As I talk my walk around the faculty campus, I can't help but admire nature in this weather. Flowers in every shade, raindrops on the grass, the hills in the backyard and sparrows chirping away...the path from MDP to Tata Audi is nature's red carpet at XL. As I walk back and count the roses outside Mother Teresa, I can't help feeling peaceful. Back in my room, as Moni is just reminding me that there are three hours left for the B.Law exam and should start studying, I look up to see the Buddha smile. Life is good.
P.S.: In the last few days, I have had the self realisation that even if a complete #$%@# has pissed me off and is talking crap to me, I retain the ability to remain polite and use civil language rather than go ahead and call names. Talk about spotting the silver lining :-P
