The beauty of broken dreams...

Busy minds bubbling with ideas. The quest to prove oneself, the zest for life, the inclination towards action. They enter with dreams, some which are uniquely theirs and other force-fed by assorted associates vicariously trying to move up in life. Ideas, opinions and career paths have been imbibed, churned and internalized till they stop jarring and seem natural. The struggle to achieve, the fight to establish oneself, the evolutionary notion of emerging the survivor. It definitely is the mother of all battles. Only the fittest will walk away unhurt. The journey is a long painful one, often solitary...the road and weather have no support to offer. Randomness peeps in once in a while in nightmares. They brush them away to 'focus'. They claim to be cautiously optimistic, after all. When the rest of the world parties away, they burn the midnight oil and slog away into the night. Success comes to the ones who strive, they quote as they go about like ants collecting food. While there is much merrymaking to be had, they steadfastly lock themselves up in the jails constructed by their minds. Hope drives them very well. Till it's time for judgement. They sit in anticipation, waiting for payback, for all their struggle to materialise.
Except that it doesn't. Fortune favours the fraxers. The dream jobs are taken away by the dreamers. The newly released movie 'Luck by Chance' seems eerily prophetic. Fooled by Randomness is no more just a famous book title. They rack their minds wondering where the script went so horribly wrong. They introspect, question and judge. Weren't they the chosen ones, the very few who had what it took? Didn't they have all the right ingredients cooked at just the right temperature ready to be served? They throw a tantrum to protest the injustice. They lose their smiles, their temper and their minds. Once in a while, equity does rear its elusive head only to disappear again. Some choose to compromise, others steadfastly refuse to bulge...Slowly but surely, time ticks away. And they, the favoured children of time are abandoned on the streets. Fate frowns upon them all...Till the undisputable reality is registered...B-school placements mirror life in ironic, sardonic ways. The lesson will be learnt, over and over again, for generations to come. The hurt shall be relentless. The bleeding never stops. Destiny never sleeps.

Yes the pain will stay there for eons.......especially for those who lost an essential opening into their dream career because of the dreamers. The dreamers who did an about-turn in their own dreams and grabbed a piece of ours........with hooks that were rusted but polished to appear shining new.

I do think you are over estimating the importance of a good placement.
