My folks are in town. And we are doing what we always do. Discussing over dinner. The topic is a scholarship that i have just won. A nice package which reduces my educational financial burden considerably. It was unexpected. Coz the first column in the form asked about parents' designation and income. I had immediately lost hope. Dismissed it as a need based scholarship. Cribbed a bit about how merit alone is not adequately recognized. My father had disputed my point of view. Pointed out why need based scholarships are more impactful. The example was closer home. Now, anyway everyone is happy. Thankfully, our family has taken only a generation to move from one to the other.
