- You grew up with a cousin who flunked CA the maximum seven times and became demented in the process. That had a pretty BIG impact on your impressionable mind. Then someone told you ICWA is much simpler. You fell for it.
- You are an engineer and want to show some background in Finance. You figure you have the capacity to cultivate zilch accounting skills. Nor can you spot mistakes in random sentences/figures anywhere you go and pontificate upon them wisely like all CAs seem to be able to. Wisely, you take ICWA exams and scrape through.
- You are a shy, demure, homely girl from a ultra-conservative orthodox family who doesn't believe in women going to work lest you get exposed to undesirable elements blah blah. You do a little bit of research and figure out ICWA doesn't need any articleship. Yay! (yeah, yeah, don't be a spoilsport now and point out that the rules have changed :P)
- You study in some crazily competitive and 90% Gujju college like NM where people are doing atleast two professional courses at any point of time. Naah, never mind it is against the university rules to totally ignore BCom. Law or CS which again involves law is so not your cup of tea. What is the only other option? Yeah, okay, ICWA it is.
- The inheriting your father's legacy thing holds true. The reason why 30% of the ICWA students at any point of time are doing that course is simply because their father did it once upon a time. (True story!)
- You do some neat ROI analysis. The fees for ICWA are the lowest? Really? So does that mean I can afford to flunk often without making my dad bankrupt? Bang, you have found your course.
- Someone told you the ICWA paper in all the three stages repeats every four years. So all you need to do to pass the exam in 2009 is to get the suggested solutions for the exam papers of 2005, 2001, 1997 and so on. Yeah, the thumb rule works every year. Except for the particular exam you take. Yeah, that sucks. But how else do you think the exam pass percentages are minuscule 3-5%?
- And finally revealing the most treasured secret behind ICWA admissions. The real reason the ICWAI institute exists is because of a small line in PSU employee contracts. They get an extra bonus or promotion if they pass the exam. And since you are a sarkari worker getting paid in peanuts right now, you need to voluntarily torture yourself for three years and become that CWA :P

Reasons you might do ICWA for!
Okay, since I have done enough CA bashing to be blacklisted by the NM alumni forum, let me do some ICWA analysis too :D :D

Whoa... Getting meaner and meaner, you are... :D
(No, I'm not doing it and don't intend to.)
How about a "Reasons You Might Do an MBA For"? Haan? :D
@ Mudra: The meanness quotient is in direct proportion to the number of mindless meetings I attend that day :D :D Btw, to show off, I am a CWA ranker and proud of it :) Waise, u think I should spare the MBAs? ;)
